We have a great crew here at SLF! We work hard, laugh hard, and in the process become a tight family. Our staff retention rate is over 80% each season.

How do we do it?

We have three arms that power our work crew: our work share staff, paid growers, and volunteers.

Work Share Staff:

A work share is the exchange of labor for a membership share in our CSA. A work share is a commitment of 5 hours per week, harvesting and packing vegetables for our weekly CSA boxes. The work is unapologetically physical and done in all kinds of weather, but with our crew it is also a lot of fun, especially if you like to be outdoors and work hard! Our work share staff are compensated with a half share of vegetables as well as a fruit share.

Assistant Growers:

We also offer paid positions as assistant growers. Growers assist Farmer Kurt in all matters of field production work, such as seeding in the greenhouse, machine work, tractor work, cultivation and hand-weeding, irrigation, tilling, bed preparation, harvesting, and other farm tasks as assigned. See the job description below.

Volunteers:

In addition we always welcome volunteers to come to our farm and get their hands dirty. You can come during the week to help with weeding or other farm needs as directed by Farmer Kurt, or attend a harvest night on Monday or Wednesdays from 4-8 pm. To learn more about volunteering, visit our Volunteer page.

Next Steps:

If you’d like to be considered for our staff for the 2017 season, or if you’d like to simply volunteer once or twice, please contact us at sharedlegacyfarms@gmail.com or by phone at 419-862-3576.

We will begin receiving applications for employment in January, and we usually have our staff in place by early April. Send us an email, expressing your interest.

Note: We value the following qualities in our employees: a hard work ethic, the ability to work efficiently and think for themselves, friendly personality, and an easy-going and flexible attitude.
