Hi Corinna, I'm new to Shared Legacy and very excited for the CSA season to begin. I noticed your plans for the great food giveaway and wanted to make you aware of an organization called Food for Thought. They operate a food pantry both at a fixed location in Oregon, OH and a mobile pantry that serves multiple sites including Toledo, Walbridge, Perrysburg and Oak Harbor. You can read more about them at http://feedtoledo.org. They might be helpful in suggesting locations for the giveaway!

Believe it or not, there are actually hotter peppers than the "ghost pepper" now. The Infinity Chili, Dorset Naga, Naga Morich, and Naga Viper have all had higher SHUs. Single peppers, or even small pieces of peppers, have rated higher by HPLC testing, but the official Scoville ratings come when multiple peppers test withing two significant numbers of each other. Currently, the Butch T Trinidad Scorpion (named after it's creator, Butch Taylor) is the hottest at 1,463,700 SHUs!
